Suttons Bay Publications
Suttons Bay Publications, the publisher of four Great Lakes History books for children began in 1987, when John Mitchell and longtime friend Tom Woodruff combined their interest in history to produce their first book, MICHIGAN, An Illustrated History for Children in time for Michigan's Sesquicentennial. Soon after they produced three other regional histories GREAT LAKES and GREAT SHIPS, An Illustrated History for Children, and INDIANS OF THE GREAT LAKES, An Illustrated History for Children. The newest release PREHISTORIC GREAT LAKES, An Illustrated History for Children was a natural progression of the first three books written by John Mitchell and illustrated by Tom Woodruff.
All of the books are widely used in schools--thousands are used on a daily basis as teaching tools across the Midwest.
